School Psychologist Lead @ Central Special Education

Purpose:
To assist Alief ISD schools in in providing consistent procedures and standards in the referral coordination disability identification process for students referred to special education and to support the social emotional and academic wellbeing of students with disabilities and to assist Alief ISD schools in maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of both state and federal guidelines.
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
- Masters degree in psychology from an accredited college or university
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations including procedures for assessing and interpreting achievement intellectual emotional and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies related to academic behavioral or emotional challenges
- Knowledge of behavioral mental health collaborative and/or consultation models and methods and their application
- Ability to coordinate manage and collaborate with staff in accordance with duties
- Effective communication human relations and leadership skills
- Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Platform Management Systems
- Bilingual preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years experience providing psychological services as an LSSP/School Psychologist in a public educational setting
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Ensure campus School Psychologists follow consistent procedures and standards in assessments and intervention recommendations.
- Offer ongoing support and mentorship to campusassigned School Psychologists helping them navigate complex cases.
- Ensure high standards of evaluation practice by organizing and delivering trainings to enhance the skills and knowledge of campusassigned School Psychologists including but not limited to: assessment processes report writing MDRs FBA/BIPs and other areas as needed.
- Consult with school staff regarding implementation of behavior intervention plans and in managing behaviorally disruptive students.
- Review and monitor evaluations to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in assessment results and recommendations through constructive feedback in Case Review Committee meetings.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between campus assessment team members and other stakeholders such as campus teachers administrators and parents to pro0mote a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for meeting all state and federal guidelines and local operating procedures.
- Conduct professional performance evaluations for select campus School Psychologists and provide constructive feedback and identify a plan of action for areas of professional growth and development.
- Subsume campus School Psychologist responsibilities as needed due to vacancy or extended absence to ensure continuity of services and support for students with identified disabilities or students in the special education referral process. As needed duties to include the following:
- Manage campus special education caseloads (coordinate meetings and manage processes for students referred to special education students requiring a 3year reevaluation and students in need of additional formal assessment).
- Conduct Full Individual Evaluation assessments for students referred to special education and students requiring reassessment (initiate coordinate collaborate monitor progress on and complete evaluations within appropriate timelines).
- Review all Existing Evaluation Data to make appropriate determinations for the need for additional assessment.
- Review assessment results received from other school district/outside sources to assure that all local state and federal requirements criteria are met.
- Adhere to mandatory timelines and compliance for program with and/or conduct parent conferences for the purpose of reviewing and interpreting assessment results in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure parent meaningful participation in the ARD process
- Provide teacher/staff consultation related to assessment results and educational planning of students evaluated.
- Participate in Case Review Committee meetings and followup on actionable items.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate individual educational plans (IEPs) for students in special education.
- Attend and participate in professional development meetings.
- Update skills as needed and directed.
- Prepare facilitate and lead ARD Committee meetings REED Meetings or other meetings which involve special education assessment related needs of children.
- Know prevention and intervention strategies in learning.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You may be asked to provide mentorship and/or supervision to campusassigned School Psychologists interns trainees and Mental Health Specialists.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology Personnel.

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (1545 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range Min. $66795 Mid. $79769 Max. $92742(Based on previous experience)
Salary schedule with 3% of midpoint increase approved by the Board. Salary schedule soon to be released.
$4000 stipend $500 Masters. If applicable $4500 Bilingual stipend
