Reports To: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Compensation:

Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7443

Hours Per Day: 8.0

Contracted Days: 261 Days/Year

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.

Three years journeymanlevel experience in one or more trade areas.

Journey license or equivalent certifications for trade area.

Must be able to hold and obtain a C.D.L.

Knowledge Of:

Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer email and websites.

Trade tools equipment materials methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least one of the following: electrical heating airconditioning plumbing and welding.

Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.

Technical (Journeyman Level) aspects of fields of specialty.

Proper methods of storing equipment materials and supplies.

Basic recordkeeping techniques.

Requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe clean and orderly condition.

Federal State and local building codes and regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Perform maintenance repair and construction of District buildings and equipment in one or more craft trade; lead other Maintenance Technicians as necessary; work independently in advanced trades such as electrical plumbing HVAC refrigeration steamfitter electrical motor repair and welding.

Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of skilled work at the Journeyman Technician Level in the maintenance and repair of District facilities and equipment; prioritize schedule assign and coordinate the work of assigned staff to accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the building trades.

Perform various refrigeration plumbing and heatrelated duties; cut thread assemble and layout pipe; assist in the purchase installation repair and maintenance of various plumbing heating and air conditioning equipment; perform welding and metal fabrication; diagnose and repair electronic ignition systems for heaters furnaces and hot water heaters.

Assist in the purchase installation maintenance and repair of electrical wiring and fixtures; perform troubleshooting to repair or replace fans and motors; perform repairs to motors and lighting circuits.

Perform skilled maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment; test and replace circuits; execute emergency repairs and large complex projects; troubleshoot and correct defective switches receptacle ballasts and other wiring; perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Effectively and safely operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; maintain tools and equipment in a safe clean and proper working condition.

Interpret explain and apply codes rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities.

Interpret blueprints shop drawings sketches and work orders.

Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal State and local codes regulations and requirements.

Maintain various records related to labor materials and work orders.

Purchase tools equipment and materials; operate light trucks to pick up and deliver equipment and supplies. Must observe legal and defensive driving practices.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Estimate labor and material costs and perform quick and accurate calculations.

Work independently with little direction.

Meet schedules and time lines.

Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools.

ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment:

(ex. Indoor environmentally controlled. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones personal interruptions background noises. May require working with or near the public parents and children and will be subject to sounds scents and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgement.)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel. The evaluation will be conducted by the Maintenance Supervisor.
