JOB GOAL:
To help students in the EXCEL Medical & Health Science course develop the professional and technical skills and knowledge required to forge forward in exploring careers in the medical career strand by connecting students to mentors real clientbased projects and internships to enhance learning experiences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and onehalf (9.50) month contract (195 days) plus benefit : Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.FLSA: EXEMPT.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or satisfactory work experience in order to qualify for a teaching workforce permit issued by the Arkansas Department of Education. Masters degree in related field preferred.
- Must meet requirements to be employed as an adjunct professor at UA Pulaski Technical College which requires 18 graduate hours in the content area.
- Relevant experience including with at least 5 years of acceptable experience with an industry recognized certification. Strong knowledge of medical and health practices and procedures terminology and ethics.
- Strong desire to expose students to careeropportunities in the field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Create and maintain professional relationships with students
- Facilitate projectbased classroom as lead learner
- Guide students on professional projects
- Establish a professional business environment for the students
- Collaborate with the post secondary institutions to meet requirements for students to earn concurrent credit
- Communicate with medical and health experts to establish mentorships and internships for students
- Speak to groups about the EXCEL Careers for Advanced Professional Studies
- Engage with professional organizations that promote medical and health careers
- Follow the schools policies and procedures for grading
- Maintain and sustain a strong local advisory group
- Recruit students for the medical and health science course
- Attend required summer professional provided by the CAPS Network.
- Job performance will be evaluated using the Teacher Excellence and Support System adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education and Little Rock School District

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
