DESCRIPTION:
Lake Area Technical College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Aviation Maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aviation maintenance or flight instruction with the ability to support the development and instruction of aviation courses and labs. The lab aide will also play a critical role in maintaining a safe and effective learning environment supporting both students and faculty in various capacities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver curriculum for the Aviation Departments.
- Perform basic maintenance (oil changes tire changes 100hr inspections) on flight school airplanes as required
- Instruct students in handson labs and simulations ensuring a practical and engaging learning experience.
- Assist students in understanding and applying aviation principles providing individualized support and tutoring as needed.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of aviation instructional laboratories including setup testing operation repair and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Prepare materials for demonstrations and manage the circulation of instructional supplies tools and equipment.
- Conduct periodic inspections and maintenance of laboratory equipment making minor repairs and scheduling major repairs as necessary.
- Assist faculty students and staff in the proper use and operation of aviation equipment and technology.
- Maintain accurate records and inventories of equipment and materials ensuring proper storage and handling.
- Maintain a safe secure clean and orderly instructional environment.
- Ensure that students observe appropriate safety procedures and provide safety training when necessary.
- Perform security and safety inspections regularly
- Assist in the continuous development of the aviation program including the introduction of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) option.
- Conduct program and courselevel assessments to promote continuous improvement.
- Participate in campuswide and programspecific events to recruit students into the aviation program.
- Represent the Aviation Department at various air shows and high school career and education fairs.
- Discuss opportunities within the Aviation Department with potential students and community members

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Airframe and Powerplant certificate required.
- Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of aviation maintenance preferred.
- Inspection Authorization Certificate is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of aviation maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft flight systems controls and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance on aviation equipment and machinery.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work is performed in both classroom and laboratory environments.
- Occasional travel to represent the Aviation Department at events.
- Computer literate and proficient with relevant software.
- Excellent people skills and an affinity for working with young adults and coworkers in a team environment.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- National Career Readiness Certificate Level Silver or higher is a plus.
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor with a current medical certificate or the ability to obtain certification preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
200day contract. August 2025 start. Salary and benefits set by the Watertown Board of Education in accordance with the state postsecondary technical instructor salary formula.
