What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hospital for Special Surgery #1 in Orthopedics for the last 15 years is currently looking for a Full Time Physician Assistant. This position is to support the practice of Dr. Zachary Grabel at HSS Florida West Palm Beach. Dr. Grabel is a board certified fellowshiptrained spine surgeon. He provides high quality comprehensive spine care including primary and revision surgery of the cervical thoracic and lumbar spine. He treats conditions ranging from degenerative spine disorders to complex deformities and spine tumors using a variety of techniques including minimally invasive spine surgery artificial disc replacement anterior posterior and lateral approaches to the spine.

The PA will serve as a primary assistant to the doctor. Duties will include clinical evaluation of patients in the office counseling patients and their families regarding proposed surgical procedures as well as addressing preand postoperative patient questions and concerns and surgical first assist role in the operating room. The PA will interact closely with office staff other PAs patients and families to be an integral part of providing a high level of clinical care and service.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited PA program current FL PAC License BLS/ACLS certification and NCCPA board certification are required.

Infection Control Certificate must be current. Must have taken child abuse recognition course.

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a PA preferably in an orthopedic setting or alternate surgical subspecialty.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs).

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust fumes temperature and noise. Examples: patient care providers and laboratory technicians.

HAZARDS OSHA
OSHA Category that involve exposure to blood body fluids tissues and other potentially infectious materials.

Responds to emails and communications/ messages as soon as possible in a professional manner with compassion and understanding.


EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelors. Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program.

EDUCATION PREFERRED
Masters Physician Assistant.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE PREFERRED
Current NCCPA Certificate 100 hours of continuing medical education must be logged every 2 years. Recertification Examination must be taken every 610 years and passed successfully.
