Job Description

Introduction

We at the Potomac Center/SETT facility provide quality personcentered support to adults with intellectual disabilities at our campus in Hagerstown Maryland. Our aim is to partner with the community to help our residents achieve their goals.

The Potomac Center is a 62bed licensed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions to empower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return to community living.

The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT) Program located within the Potomac Center campus is a 32bed licensed Forensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secure environment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their court involvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. The SETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation assessment and competency attainment education.

Main Purpose of Job

This positions principle intermediate responsibility areas shall include:
  • Helping each person served meet their personal outcomes
  • Successfully completing all Inservice Training modules inclusive of classroom demonstrated competencies and CNA related
  • Full compliance with applicable policies and procedures relating to both individual care as well as identified outcomes and measures in place in furtherance of same
  • Provision of quality services in such representative areas as equipment utilization data collection personal hygiene and programming
  • Matching newlyacquired skills to enhance growth and development of persons served per their Individualized Plan (IP) goals
  • Discharging all duties and conducting oneself at all times per all relevant Regulations Standards Policies and Procedures including: Departments of Budget and Management and Mental Health and Hygiene; Title 17 CODE OF MARYLAND REGULATIONS; Office of Health Care Quality; ICFID; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; CNA Certification/statutory requirements; The Mandt System; and Potomac Center/SETT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:Three years ofexperience providing direct client services in adevelopmental disabilityor similar behavior modification setting.

Notes:
may substitute thecompletion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university with 15credit hours in health or human services education or the behavioral sciencesand one year of experience providing direct client services in a developmentaldisability or similar behavior modification setting for the requiredexperience.

may substitute thepossession of an Associate of Arts or a Bachelors degree from an accreditedcollege or university with a specialization in the treatmentofdevelopmental disabilities in a mental health or closelyrelated curriculumincluding a supervised clinical practicum in a developmental disability orsimilar behavior modification setting for the required experience.

may substitute Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer inHospital Corpsman classifications or Health Care Specialist and MedicalServices specialty codes in the health related field ofwork on ayearforyear basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience supervising direct care staff
  • Experience working with the intellectually disabled population in a forensic setting

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in thisclassification must possess a current certificate as a Nursing Assistant fromthe Maryland State Board of Nursing 4140 Patterson Avenue Baltimore Maryland21215. Persons appointed to a position in this classification withoutcertification as a Nursing Assistant must successfully complete a Board ofNursing approved nursing assistant training program and receive certificationas a Nursing Assistant within six months from date of hire prior to performingdelegated nursing tasks. Appointees who fail to successfully complete thisrequirement will not be retained in these positions.

2. Employees in this classificationmay be required to successfully complete training in and maintain currentcardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in thisclassification are subject to callin 24 hours a day and therefore will berequired to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they canbe reached.
