Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Head of Preservation Processing and Exhibitions the Music Processing Archivist will oversee the physical relocation of music special collections including book and archival collections. This work will include the preparation of processed materials for transfer and description and arrangement of unprocessed Special Collections music materials. This position will work closely with the music libraries support services and curatorial and preservation staff to ensure safe transfer and continued access to these materials.
This is a time limited position of up to 15 months.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the preparation of music special collections materials for transfer. This includes setting and enforcing standards for the safe packing and moving of the materials as well as organizing inventorying and labelling the materials for transfer.
- Performs condition assessment rehousing inventories description and other related activities involved in the processing of unprocessed music special collections.
- Oversees the transfer of music special collections from the Gaylord Music Library to Olin and West Campus special collections spaces. This will include the creation of a multistage timeline for the move in coordination with libraries support services and special collections staff. Documents tracks and reports on project progress. Ensures timely completion of the project through effective communication.
- Hires supervises and trains student workers in the packing of fragile book and archival collections. Manages the scheduling of student worker shifts sets task list for student workers and provides quality control of their work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

$58400.00 $99700.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including ones qualifications and performance equity with others in the department market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
