Job Description

The role:

We have a really exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Manager to join our friendly HR department. This position is initially a 12month fixedterm contract serving as maternity cover.

We will consider both full time and part time applications. If you are looking for part time hours please state the specifics on your application.

As the Learning & Development Manager you will support the Head of Talent & Diversity with overseeing the firms leadership development programmes as well as setting the strategic direction for stars the firms global skills academy for all staff. This 12month maternity cover position involves working with external suppliers to design and deliver effective training interventions implementing the firms membership and linemanaging the Training Coordinator.

You will be part of the Learning & Development team led by the Head of Talent & Diversity. The team consists of two other L&D Managers a Training Coordinator and a Training Assistant. The team is responsible for all learning development and talent matters across the firm.

What will you do:

  • Support the Head of Talent & Diversity with overseeing the leadership development programmes for partners and senior leaders ensuring alignment with the firms strategic priorities and business needs.

  • Set the strategic direction for stars the firms global skills academy for all staff.

  • Work closely and manage relationships with external suppliers to design and deliver workshops incorporating feedback and insights from stakeholder conversations.

  • Develop evaluation methods to measure the return on investment of training interventions.

  • Manage the L&D budget for your programmes ensuring strategic alignment and negotiating discounts with suppliers.

  • Supervise the Training Coordinator in managing daily operations of stars the global skills academy.

  • Implement and promote the firms strategic membership with

  • Collaborate with Marketing & Business Development and client contacts to advise and deliver client training interventions as needed.

  • Design and facilitate inhouse sessions and panel discussions as needed.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable relevant experience of working in a similar L&D role for a minimum of three years ideally within the legal field or alternatively in a professional services environment.

  • Experience with psychometric instruments is a plus.

  • Excellent established training and facilitation skills for both inperson and virtual delivery.

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and achieve results.

  • Excellent communicator (written and oral) with an ability to have robust conversations with senior people and adapt communication style to all levels and cultures.

  • An international & commercially focused mindset.

  • Keeps up to date with L&D best practice to be able to apply this to solutions.

  • Able to effectively manage juniors and support the career development of individuals.

  • Excellent IT skills including Outlook Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel.
