Located at the mouth of the St. Clair River on the shores of Lake Huron the community of Sarnia is known for its breathtaking waterfront pristine beaches and beautiful parks system. Ranked one of the most affordable mediumsized cities in Ontario Sarnia with its 72000 residents is home to over 1000 acres of parkland and 40 km of trails in addition to 4 golf courses 16 art galleries 6 museums and 3 theatres across the County.
As the Superintendent Parkland Planning Services you will play a key leadership role in the planning development and delivery of programs that support the ecological management and longterm sustainability of the City of Sarnias public lands.
Reporting to the Manager Recreation & Parkland Planning Services you will be responsible for a broad range of publicfacing services including longrange planning program design and ontheground execution that will manage efforts to naturalize areas of parkland across the more than 1000 acres of lands here in Sarnia and increase the opportunity for greater biodiversity within the community.
The Superintendent is also responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Forestry and Horticulture teams ensuring highquality service delivery and effective team performance. This role will also lead the development and implementation of programs focused on ecological sustainability green space enhancement and naturalization.
Collaboration is critical to success in this role. The Superintendent will work closely with other municipal departments community groups agencies boards and the public to ensure parkland infrastructure is safe accessible and environmentally sustainable while optimizing the use of City resources.

In addition to overseeing daily operations this role will focus on public education coordinating volunteer groups implementing invasive species management strategies and supporting endangered/threatened species while carrying out the adoption and execution of a variety of master plans to address community needs service gaps and the impacts of climate change.
