Job Description
JOB SUMMARY : The Curriculum Designer is a nonfaculty position fully supported by the Oklahoma Cyber Innovation Institute. The Curriculum Designer will create and implement engaging standardsaligned curriculum for high school students (grades K12). This role focuses on developing comprehensive lessons and materials that introduce students to the fundamentals of cybersecurity ethical practices and career pathways in the field. The ideal candidate will blend subjectmatter expertise with a strong background in curriculum design and a commitment to fostering digital literacy and security awareness among young learners. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ( RESPONSIBILITIES ): Design develop and update cybersecurity courses and lesson plans tailored for grades K12. Ensure alignment with educational standards such as ISTE CSTA or statespecific standards. Incorporate projectbased learning handson activities and simulations to reinforce cybersecurity concepts. Create engaging instructional materials including multimedia resources assignments and assessments. Develop scaffolding strategies to support diverse learners including students with special needs and English language learners. Integrate gamification coding challenges and realworld case studies to enhance learning experiences. Cover core cybersecurity topics such as the CIA Triad (Confidentiality Integrity Availability) encryption network security ethical hacking and digital forensics. Work closely with educators administrators and instructional coaches to ensure the curriculum is practical and impactful. Provide professional development sessions for teachers on delivering the cybersecurity curriculum effectively. Assess curriculum effectiveness through student performance data teacher feedback and industry standards. Continuously update curriculum to reflect emerging trends and threats in the cybersecurity field. Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Demands
Prolonged Sitting : Most of the work is done on a computer requiring extended periods of sitting. Manual Dexterity : Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment. Visual Acuity : Ability to read and analyze data on screens and printed materials. Communication : Clear verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders. Occasional Movement : Some walking or standing may be required during meetings or presentations.
Required Qualifications
Equivalent Education/Experience Teaching credential or certification in secondary education. Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python Java or HTML / CSS ) and cybersecurity platforms. Industryrecognized cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP Certified Ethical Hacker ( CEH ) or Certified Information Systems Auditor ( CISA ) is preferred. Experience developing cybersecurity curricula for CTE pathways or programs with dualenrollment partnerships would be useful. Knowledge/Skill/Ability Bachelors degree in education Cybersecurity Computer Science or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in curriculum development or teaching at the high school level. Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and tools. Proven experience with developing project based learning activities or realworld simulations. Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles such as the CIA Triad encryption and network security. Familiarity with coding languages commonly taught in high school (e.g. Python Java or HTML / CSS ). Experience designing lesson plans that meet state or national educational standards (e.g. ISTE CSTA ). Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to accommodate diverse learning needs. Familiarity with educational technologies LMS platforms (e.g. Canvas Google Classroom) and gamified learning systems.
