Job Description

Williams is pleased to announce the search for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to join the Office of Institutional Diversity Equity and Inclusion (OIDEI). OIDEI works to ensure the Colleges living learning and working environments are ones in which all students faculty and staff are welcome and may thrive. OIDEIs work which is often done in collaboration with academic and administrative units across campus focuses on eliminating harmful bias and discrimination closing opportunity gaps and facilitating dialogue and conversation on campus and beyond.


Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Diversity Equity and Inclusion the AVP will possess a deep knowledge of matters of inclusion and equity and be proficient in advancing initiatives that stand to positively impact individuals of all identities.


Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at working in a community that is broadly diverse with regard to among other things race ethnicity economic status gender disability status nationality sexual orientation and religion. In a cover letter applicants should describe their experience with conflict management investigation workshop development and facilitation restorative practices and intra and intergroup dialogue and fostering inclusive communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of the colleges nondiscrimination policies;

  • Respond to reports of bias;

  • Develop workshops and facilitate conversations;

  • Develop new and support existing initiatives that improve climate;

  • Work with students faculty staff campus adjacent communities and regional organizations; and

  • Colead committees and/or represent the office on committees and at meetings.

Qualifications:

The AVP will join a highly skilled and collaborative team that provides key leadership throughout the college community. The successful candidate will be:

  • An experienced facilitator;

  • Experienced in strengthening improving or repairing relationships between individuals and communities;

  • Versed in conflict management processes including investigations;

  • Impartial when needed and able to hold information in confidence as appropriate;

  • Able to communicate clearly and accurately about complex and sensitive issues;

  • Able to communicate supportively with those who may have experienced trauma including discrimination;

  • Able to comprehend complex matters and make decisions exercising good judgment in conformity with existing laws and policies;

  • Experienced in program and policy development and implementation;

  • Experienced in developing and leading workshops and conversations;

  • Adept at promoting cultures of respect and inclusion;

  • Able to work collaboratively across multiple units;

  • Reliable and organized;A creative thinker

  • A lifelong learner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree with a terminal or masters degree preferred

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

This position is a fulltime yearround appointment. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications; the range for this position is $110000$125000. For optimal consideration submit a resume and cover letter by May 29 2025.
