What Youll Do
- Inspects tests repairs fabricates alters and installs a wide variety of electrical power communication and instrumental equipment including controlling devices and wiring systems electromechanical technical equipment radio networks and power system failure responses
- Determines necessary corrective action and completes restoration to service
- Operates machinery tools and complex test equipment as necessary
- Works in confined spaces with underground manholes and duct banks
- Possible dressout for Rad areas and other contaminants
Minimum Job Requirements
- Requires trade school or apprenticeship training with four years of applicable industrial electrical and electronics experience or equivalent combination
- Employee will also be required to complete and qualify in: The Y12 Power Distribution OneLine course and subsequent refresher courses; High Voltage Safety course Carcinogen and PCB Worker
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e. High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Four plus years of experience after journeyman status;experience in medium voltage / distribution and transmission voltage ranges (161 kv 13.8kv to 5kv) and low voltages from (600 volts to 50 volts AC and up to 130 volts DC)
- Knowledge of DOE Orders and state and federal laws pertaining to facility operations; complex system knowledge; major risk management; work planning and controls
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface effectively with various organizations
- Extra training or applicable experience documentation
- Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of Conduct of Operations Integrated Safety Management Y12 Plant safety documentation engineering principles and ES&H regulatory compliance

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligencescope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
