Job Description

This position is open to internal candidates only. External candidates will not be reviewed or considered.

Salary/Position Classification

  • $59960 annual Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No

Purpose of Position

This position is 100% grantfunded continuation of this FTE is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. If grant funding is reduced or discontinued the position may be reduced in scope or eliminated accordingly.

The Project Coordinator will provide high level support for the administrative core of TRANSCEND an NIHfunded grant designed to facilitate collaborations between non clinicians and clinicians to move basic research discoveries toward clinical applications. This position will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Schwartz in managing the operational and financial aspects of the grant track progress provide highlevel administrative assistance and communicate effectively with internal leaders and partner institutions which include NDSU and Sanford Health. The position will assist faculty/researchers with grant writing editing and programmatic reporting activities to federal agencies and private foundations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Participate in and provide support for the recruitment of applicants and mentors for TRANSCEND pilot grant funding and scholar development programs

  • Create and maintain website for TRANSCEND grant
  • Create and disseminate recruitment materials
  • Visit collaborating institutions with administrative core leadership to recruit potential applicants and mentors
  • Receive and conduct preliminary review of grant proposals and scholar applications and refer to appropriate committee for final approval

Provide administrative support for the TRANSCEND grant and its activities

  • Serve as primary liaison between Principal Investigator (Pl) and partnering universities institutes and clinical entities
  • Draft policy protocols in conjunction with Pl and appropriate advisory committee; maintain policy database; communicate policies and revisions to all stakeholders
  • Work with the Pl and leadership teams to review program activities an formulate and implement strategic planning protocols
  • Assist with outreach activities to share clinical and scientific achievements with the general public
  • Maintain detailed record keeping system and prepare annual programmatic reports including the Clinical and Translational Research (CTR) annual progress report
  • Facilitate Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) approvals for all projects Organize annual TRANSCEND symposium and committee meetings
  • Organize travel and itineraries for visiting seminar speakers and External Advisors

Provide financial management support for the TRANSCEND grant

  • Work with the Pl and SMHS Grants Manager to ensure appropriate funding is allocated to all participating institutions
  • Manage budget by tracking and approving expenditures ensuring that UND procurement policies are followed
  • Provide appropriate parties with accurate financial reports and financial forecasting as requested by NIH and by the PI
  • Create financial documents (paper and electronic) as required to accomplish financial functions
  • Assist SMHS Grants Manager with financial reporting to funding agency

Assist SMHS faculty/researchers with identifying new funding opportunities developing grant proposals and grant compliance

  • Utilize SMHS resources to gain an understanding of institutional and divisional history and programs including collaborating with various internal departments
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of departments individuals policies and procedures involved in identifying sources and soliciting grant funding
  • Communicate with administrators faculty and researchers to target and prioritize projects for funding consideration
  • Perform research to identify and evaluate projects for funding opportunities utilizing library sources electronic databases and other methodologies as may be appropriate
  • Assist faculty/researchers with grant writing editing and programmatic reporting to funding agencies
  • Develop and maintain contacts with external funding agency personnel
  • Travel within the state of ND and occasionally outside the state as needed to cultivate and maintain research relationships
  • Identify and comply with all grant reporting requirements as required by internal policies and procedures as well as rules of external funding agencies
  • Consult with the SMHS Grants Manager affiliated UND offices regional constituents and funding agencies in the submission of grant proposals and programmatic reporting

Administrative support to Principal Investigator Dr. Schwartz in activities related to TRANSCEND initiatives and activities including coordinating applications for TRANSCEND faculty for CME credits in clinical and translational research

  • Assist with providing technical support for the ADR reviewers and authors in using professional journal websites
  • Schedule meetings take notes provide followup track progress and all other duties related to meetings and committees
  • Provide calendar management website support collect and analyze information manage correspondence including drafting disseminating etc.

Required Competencies

Ability to monitor progress and meet the research needs of the SMHS
Ability to maintain confidentiality of research and other relevant information
Strong organizational and record keeping skills
Prefer knowledge of NDUS/UND policies and procedures especially in areas of grants management financial management procurement and travel

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in Journalism Communications Biomedical Sciences or other related field
1 year of experience writing and editing for professional publication
Experience with Microsoft Office software including Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
