Job Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer is a key position that reports to the President and Vice President. The CFO Directs the dealerships financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions shareholders and the financial community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

• Oversees and directs treasury budgeting audit tax accounting purchasing real estate and insurance activities for the dealership.

• Works closely with the dealer on longrange planning cash management and funds allocation.

• Maintains relationships with financial institutions on matters of lines of credit and funds management.

• Analyzes consolidates and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.

• Directs and analyzes studies of general economic business and financial conditions and their impact on the dealerships policies and operations.

• Directs the controller in providing and managing the procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.

• Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of the dealerships annual report.

• Appraises the dealerships financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports.

• Maintains close working relationships with accountants to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and maintenance of a dealership financial structure designed to minimize tax liabilities.

• Maintains close working relationship with legal counsel to ensure that all dealership financial activities are properly conducted documented and reported.

• Assists the dealer and general manager with cash flow management by working with the controller to follow contractsintransit accounts receivable and purchaser loan payoffs.

• Assists the general manager in preparing financial projections and budgets for each retail facility.

• Negotiates relationships with insurers to provide insurance coverage and other benefits.

• Represents the dealer as a personal agent within the dealership and at functions outside the dealership.

• Attends senior level manager meetings.

• Maintains professional appearance.

• Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting is a must or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• CPA or dealership CFO experience is required.

• DealerTrack experience preferred (other DMSs considered)

• QuickBooks experience preferred

• Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner

• Excellent communication skills

• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

• Experience with creating financial statements

• Experience with general ledger functions and the monthend/year end close process

• Be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds

• Be able to stand and sit for an hour or more at a time.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger handle feel and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment for the CFO varies but often is an office setting and working in a car showroom. The CFO will be required to walk the dealership property and may encounter inclement weather. The CFO may also enter the service areas and be exposed to dangerous work environments and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
