SUMMARY:
The Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN)is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the preoperative and post anesthesia care units. The LPN utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles practices and ethics as taught in approved schools of practical nursing. The LPN performs under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician. The degree of supervision is determined by the patients condition as determined by the LPNs supervisor. The LPN is held to the Standards of Practice as authorized or limited by the National Federation of Practical Nurses or Standards of Practice established by national accepted organization of licensed practical nurses.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training as indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited LVN/LPN school of nursing; current Kentucky state licensure required; CPR certifications required. Completion ofACLS certification within six (6) months of hire; previous IV certification minimum of two years broad experience including hospital and acute care ability to monitor patient condition and good verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift move and transport patients and materials; manual dexterity and motor coordination; articulate speech; read and understand medical information; visual acuity and ability to distinguish colors.
