The role / Position overview
With over 170 subscribing investment management firms MandateWire is a successful subscription business covering the investment activities of institutional investors across the globe. We are looking for an inquisitive and creative journalist to join our team of reporters based in New York and produce daily news stories on North American institutional investorspredominantly pension funds foundations and insurerswithin their specific beat.
This is a role for someone who thrives in a congenial and supportive environment is driven by curiosity and has a passion for producing accurate and timely news content.
Key responsibilities
- Research and write daily news stories focused on institutional investment activity.
- Build and maintain a strong network of senior institutional investment decisionmakers.
- Conduct telephone interviews with key sources across North America.
- Analyze financial data reports and other materials to uncover actionable insights.
- Meet daily monthly and quarterly editorial deadlines.
- Collaborate with the broader MandateWire and FT newsroom teams.
Required skills / experience
- Journalism experience preferably in financial services investments or pensions.
- Excellent and professional telephone manner with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record to build rapport and interview senior executives.
- Exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage deadlines and workflows.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to sift through large datasets and identify relevant material.
- Clear communicator with strong data interpretation skills attention to detail and a collaborative adaptable approach

Further information
A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $71000$75000. To ensure pay fairness the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
