The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative DECM IT & Electronics Specialist (Engineering Specialist II) to be a part of the DECMEngineering Electronics Controls Team. This position has a duty station at the DECM Office Complex off Yonkers Road in Raleigh NC and will be tasked with serving as the liaison to DIT to ensure DECMs hardware software and IT needs are maintained and assist the Engineering Electronics Controls Team with updating surveillance systems EIS and door control systems.
A successful candidate for this DECM IT & Electronics Specialist (Engineering Specialist II) position will provide technical assistance and installation of computer equipment and software; provide technical support to all DECM office and field locations with equipment software and account troubleshooting; be responsible for analyzing documenting and evaluating current and new engineering software for functionality and capability with current systems; and make recommendations to DECM Leadership for purchasing of new equipment and applicable softwares. This position will also provide the Engineering Electronics Controls Team with setup of computers and servers that support surveillance camera door controls and electronic intrusion systems and maintaining computer and server software updates.
This position requires the daily commute to DECMs Office Complex off Yonkers Road in Raleigh NC. This is a fulltime position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday Friday and may require some weekend work to meet the demands of the organization. Flexible work schedules can be discussed at the time of offered employment.

As of January 1 2025 there are new Salary increase adjustments to the States pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission. Effective January 1 2025 the new salary range (s) will be $50633.00 $88607.00.
Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC14. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
Management Preferences:
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. If that language appears below then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience OR a combination of both.
Associate s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
We support the Institutions and Facilities directly and indirectly by installing and maintaining kitchen plumbing mechanical electrical and electronics equipment. The DECMEngineering team consists of experts in architectural and engineering design property services project management and sustainability efficiency and resiliency (SE&R). These services support new construction renovation and likeinkind and upgrade maintenance repairs to the agencys physical plant while ensuring compliance with the NCDOA State Construction Office.
Through valuable rehabilitation and training for offenders we aim to improve recidivism rates. DECMConstruction undertakes construction renovation and major maintenance projects that involve longer periods of resource allocation with a focus on enhancing the departments infrastructure assets. DECMMaintenance which encompasses the Mountain Regional Yard Piedmont Regional Yard Coastal Regional Yard and three Satellite Yards provides essential plumbing HVAC/R and electrical preventative prescriptive and routine maintenance services to all Institutions and Facilities. Additionally our maintenance efforts include specific areas such as telecommunications electronic intrusion systems (EIS) fencing cameras fire alarms and energy management systems all focused on maintaining the Departments infrastructure assets.
DAC uses the MeritBased Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
