Position Function:
Assists with food preparation for sensory testing lab and research with respect to consumer testing shelflife testing and expert sensory panels.

Department Profile:
The Department of Biochemistry Nutrition and Health Promotion pursues an academic research and service mission within the traditions of LandGrant Universities. The Department offers B.S. M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and currently advises approximately 500 undergraduate and 200 graduate students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cooking:
assisting with sensory lab testing and research with respect to consumer testing shelflife testing and expert sensory panels.
Understands and strictly adheres to health safety food handling and sanitation requirements before during and after meal preparation.
Support the planning preparation and participation of cooking activities.
Assists in the kitchen clean up and
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED focus General Studies
Preferred Qualifications:
One or more years assisting with sensory testing and research with respect to consumer testing shelflife testing and expert sensory panels.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact and work with others.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of computer systems and software i.e. MS Office.
Ability to follow instructions and to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.
Ability to stand walk and bend periodically.
Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists hands and fingers stirring lifting prepping food typing and/or writing.
Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. preparing and analyzing data and figures accounting transcription computer terminal extensive reading).
Ability to receive and respond to oral communication.
Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a kitchen and an office environment.
Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: banging clanging chopping business office with computers and printers light to moderate traffic human voices).
