Job Description
Located in one of the nations most iconic and dynamic cities the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has a long and distinguished tradition in experiential education. The law school features a DU Bar Success program for graduates of Denver Law to aid in bar preparation studies with numerouspractice problems utilizing bar exam program features workshops mock bar exams individualized feedback and coaching. We provide a team of writing advisers to provide comments for improvement (instead of feedback we call itfeedforward)on every bar essay and performance test submitted from our program. We also provide oneonone coaching to help graduates keep on track and make the most of the learning experience.
Position Description
The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire parttime (hourly nonbenefited) Writing Advisors to advance the DU Bar Success Program through coaching and feedback working with bar takers law students and recent graduates as they prepare for bar exams.
This is an hourly nonbenefited position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year and not to exceed 100 hours between May 28 2025 and July 31 2025.
The start date is May 28 2025 with employment ending on July 31 2025.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with and support the Program Director and Assistant Director.
- As a writing adviser provide individualized feedback to answers submitted by students from mock bar exams and workshops.

Required Qualifications
- A JD or equivalent legal degree
- Outstanding written and oral communications skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and providing comments on word documents
- Licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education teaching instructional design cognitive science counseling and affiliated fields.
- Licensed to practice law in Colorado
- Preference for applicants who took and passed the Colorado Bar Exam in the past three years from the July 2021 administration to the February 2025 administration.
- Preference for applicants who participated in the DU Bar Success Program.
Work Schedule
Hours are flexible and could accommodate remote work.

Hourly Rate
The hourly rate for this position is $50.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The compensation offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
