What Youll Do
- Provide technical support in the area of health physics/dosimetry to help monitor workers for radiation exposure.
- Perform dose calculation for internal and external dosimetry.
- Monitor exposure trends and use other radiological data to assess the performance of radiological work.
- Investigate internal and external exposures to determine the nature of potential intakes and likely causes of exposures to personnel.
- Assist in the development of policies technical bases and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Provide technical guidance for peers and technicians working in the TLD and bioassay administration program.
- Use computerized database systems for dose of record and help ensure proper records management practices.
- Assist with audits and assessments of programs practices and work areas.
- Participate on emergency response team.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering/science discipline.
- OR Eight or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and yearsofexperience requirements for this posting.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (Baccalaureate in engineering or related science 2 years jobrelated and at least 1 year nuclear experience or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Health Physics/Engineering operational experience is preferred.
- Preference may be given for certification or progress towards certification by the American Board of Health Physics or registration by the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists.
