Auberle Seeks: Director of Finance

As a dynamic faithbased nonprofit Auberle builds strong individuals families and communities through more than two dozen holistic programs that reach 10 counties across Western Pennsylvania. We serve more than 5000 individuals and families each year through five core program areas: Workforce Development Housing Young Adult Services Foster Care and Behavioral Health. Our staff is comprised of more than 200 passionate individuals who are dedicated to finding innovative solutions to our communitys most difficult problems. Position Overview: The Director of Finance (DOF) is a missionfocused seasoned strategic and processminded leader on the executive team who helps to drive the continuous quality improvement and performance culture among a group of diverse talented individuals that make

the agency a national leader. This servant leader understands that the key responsibility is to support our programs and the Mission. The DOF brings efficient effective systems to increase productivity and develops strategy and vision to ensure the effective management of the financial resources of the agency. The position reports to the CEO and is staff lead to the Board Finance and Audit Committee.

The DOF is a dynamic leader with a proven ability to manage people processes risk and change in a fastpaced environment. Requires strong business acumen with the ability to:

  • Connect sound financial decisionmaking to the successful advance of the Mission and achievement of the Strategic Plan.
  • Improve organizational effectiveness processes and analyze financial government and regulatory information to maximize appropriate funding streams.
  • Communicate collaborate and form working partnerships with agency leaders and external decision makers with tact integrity diplomacy and poise even when dealing with competing priorities and sudden change.
  • Serve as an engaged member on the agency Executive Team which has a big picture view of human services.
  • Lead and mentor the sixperson Finance Department helping to leverage technology and produce accurate reports with proper financial controls.

Key Performance Objectives:

Strategic Vision and Capacity Building ability to think strategically anticipate and incorporate future trends into plans build organizational and staff capacity hire and develop a topnotch workforce using processes to ensure smooth operations.

Leadership and Organization exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder and team player with the ability to connect to staff and board as both individuals and in groups; capacity to develop and empower leaders from the bottom up cultivate entrepreneurship and learn the strengths and weaknesses of a team to put people in a position to excel.

Business Management thorough understanding of finance and systems; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems including strategic development and planning budgeting business analysis finance information systems human resources and marketing.

Results proven track record of bottomline orientation and setting and exceeding challenging goals; evidence of consistent good decisions through a combination of analysis wisdom experience and judgment; high level of business acumen including successful P&L management; ability to balance program delivery against budget realities; and problem solving project management and creative resourcefulness.

Action Oriented enjoys hard work and looking for challenges; able to act and react as necessary even with limited information; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership and take unpopular stands when necessary.

Qualifications

Principal Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance Nonprofit or Business Administration or related field. MBA a plus.
  • 10 years of management experience in nonprofit or for profit public/private organizations with some nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
  • High degree of experience managing staff and budgets.
  • Act 33/34 clearances required.
