About Dioxycle
Dioxycle is pioneering breakthrough carbon utilization technologies that convert industrial emissions into sustainable chemicals with unprecedented energy and cost efficiency. By displacing fossil fuels for the production of key chemicals Dioxycle has the potential to ultimately reduce over 800 million tons of CO2 per year representing over 2% of the worlds emissions.
At the core of our process is a novel carbon electrolyzer a machine capable of using just electricity and water to convert carbon emissions back into valuable everyday essential chemicals. Our team is innovating across chemical mechanical and system engineering to turn carbon transformation into an economically feasible industrial reality through this completely novel technological approach. Having completed our mediumscale ProofofConcept electrolyzer we are now working towards a firstofitskind largescale industrial prototype and are assembling key partnerships for future commercial rollout.
We are supported by worldclass funders including Lowercarbon Capital Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Gigascale Capital and have raised $37M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California (so whether you are passionate about outdoors or good food/art scenes we have a location for you to join!)
Your Mission
Dioxycle is seeking a dynamic Junior R&D Chemical Engineer to join our team at this pivotal phase of transition from R&D to industrial piloting. You will be leading testing and building of largerscale nextgeneration electrolysis stacks to optimize them for peak performance and operation. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the engineering team translating innovations from smaller to larger scale to validate design choices. Its the perfect role for you if you like to get off your computer and enjoy handson building testing and problemsolving!
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to retroplanning experimental plans and conducting them
Mount assemble maintain and disassemble novel experimental electrolyzer stacks
Maintain the balance of plant (pumps piping thermal management etc.) of the electrolyzer stack in collaboration with our System engineers.
Develop & manage quality control sensor calibration and testing campaigns
Troubleshoot processes & optimize novel electrolyzer stacks (largescale)
Carry out observation & analysis to develop deeper understanding of stack behaviour (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Root cause analysis etc)
Work with the MEA engineering team to ensure efficiency and durability are maintained in the electrolyzer scaleup(s)
Work with the Stack design team to communicate experimental findings and ensure optimization of future designs
We seek a Junior R&D Chemical Engineer who is dedicated to advancing our mission and possesses the skills outlined below. We are looking for a recent Masters degree graduate but are also open to candidates recently graduated from a PhD. Candidates with a minimum of one year of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
