POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The primary duty of the Math Instructional Specialist is to support high quality tier 1 instruction as well as provide and organize appropriate math instruction and services to identified students in order for them to meet gradelevel expectations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Knowledge and implementation support of core math resources (e.g. Bridges) in classrooms and associated standards grades K5.
Support coaching within onboarding of the Bridges curriculum K5.
Proficiency in using formative assessments summative assessments and diagnostic assessments.
Strong knowledge of Tier 1 Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction and interventions (including strategies and specific curricula).
Supports teachers and instructional staff in developing Tier 1 and 2 researchbased instructional practices that support the development of childrens math concept development and in monitoring and documenting student progress.
Provides direct Tier 3 math intervention support.
Provides building level and district wide (K5) professional development as needed.
Participates in the schools MTSS team and facilitates the math progress monitoring and problemsolving processes to ensure appropriate supports for students.
Participates in building level PLCs and Guiding Coalitions. Participates in teach/assess/intervene process within tier 2 cycles at multiple grade levels.
Interprets schoolwide data to support in schoolwide decisionmaking.
Organizes and manages progress monitoring information and intervention plans for targeted students. This includes the ability to organize data and establish growth trajectories.
Cofacilitates district level math content teams and other team meetings.
Participates in weekly collaborative meetings with other Math Instructional Specialists and/or building principals.
Provides organized and timely progress information to classroom teachers parents students and administration. Cofacilitates the math schoolwide screening processes and professional development.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Current on research and best practices related to PLCs and MTSS frameworks.
Demonstrates a Growth Mindset when approaching math instruction and when providing support to teachers and students.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students teachers administration and parents.
Sensitivity to confidential information.
Judgment and initiative in making decisions and taking effective action.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in elementary education (masters degree in Math preferred).
Minimum of three years experience teaching regular or special education.
ESL Certification preferred.
Completion of PLC Coaching Academy preferred.
Strong skills in effective instructional strategies for multilingual learners preferred.
Wyoming State Certification Applicants must have or be able to obtain a Teaching Certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board ( with an Elementary K6 Endorsement.
The School District places employees on salary schedules on the basis of:
Wyoming experience.
Outofstate experience up to 7 years.
Degree Bachelors Masters or Doctorate.
Semester Graduate Credits beyond Degree.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materialthe ability to adjust focus and exposure to screen(s) via technology. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
