Job Description

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to meet/pass D.O.T. medical qualifications.
  • Must have passed the passenger endorsement written test before undergoing BEA driving test. Must have a passenger endorsement prior to the start date.
  • Must have a current Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A or B license with no L restriction.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have 3 years of driving of a bus or heavy truck (>26000 GVW) and able to pass a practical driving test.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all Federal State and local rules of the road that are applicable to their position.
  • Bus Operations is a 24hour operation 7 days a week that may require working any shift and/or Holiday. Time off is not guaranteed.

Job Information:

  • Wage: $28.08/hr (Rate can vary based upon individual work location clearances and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change These are bargaining unit positions.)

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend climb ladders work at heights and in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type handle materials manipulate tools and reach with hands and arms. The job requires the operation of jobrelated equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Bus Driver to work in our Transportation Services department. Our team works a fulltime schedule located out of our Central Facilities 45 minutes west of Idaho Falls.

You will transport INL employees to and from the Site on established routes connecting six surrounding will report directly to the manager of the Transportation Services department.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive a bus within the city and to the INL site facilities on established routes out of six (6) different communities. Driving could be up to 300 miles round trip per day. A normal day may start as early as 4:00 a.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
  • Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation.
  • Complete pre and posttrip inspections.
  • Additional assigned work may include shuttle driving sweeping/cleaning buses and/or cars fueling equipment inspections etc.
  • May be required to work nights weekends and holidays. May be required to work or drive out of a community where you do not reside.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
