Job Description

Mechanical Engineer New Product Development

Lynntech is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer with a background in product design and development to help build our capability to transition technologies into the marketplace. Specifically we are looking for a candidate with firsthand experience in designing fabricating and testing mature electromechanical prototypes and new product designs for applications such as medical devices industrial equipment and lab equipment.

The Product Development Engineer will be involved in the following activities:

  • Support development of system requirement definitions
  • Iterate on existing developmental prototype designs to mature toward productionrepresentative prototypes at the component subassembly and system level
  • Design for x with challenging and competing factors such as reliability cost performance ruggedization user/patient safety and usability
  • Develop and lead execution of test plans to rapidly evaluate multiple design solutions
  • Analyze test results and modify test plans and/or designs to improve the design outcome
  • Integrate component subassembly and subsystem designs with a team of engineers
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Create update and maintain design and design decision documentation

Lynntechs engineering team has deep bench strength in developing emerging technologies and building breadboards and firstgeneration prototypes. We also have experience in maturing those prototypes to increase functionality performance and reliability and we are looking to build on that capability with additional product development and manufacturing knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include Master of Engineering or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering Biomedical Engineering or related engineering disciplines or bachelors degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience as well as the following demonstrated strengths:

  • Broad competency in core functional areas such as fluid mechanics heat transfer materials thermodynamics machine design controls and manufacturing and computer aided design (CAD)
  • Familiar with standard industry solutions for electromechanical devices
  • Familiar with a variety of fabrication processes for metallic and nonmetallic materials and how these processes impact part design constraints
  • Proven skills in design for manufacturability component fabrication joining techniques design for assembly tolerance analysis quality assurance
  • Experience with design for injection molding and familiarity with mold design
  • Able to simultaneously consider functionality performance and manufacturability while developing designs
  • Creating maintaining and revising parametric 3D CAD data for parts and assemblies
  • Creating detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Troubleshooting prototypes/root cause analysis
  • Vendor assessment and selection

Preferred qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master of Engineering or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Biomedical Engineering or related engineering disciplines with 3 or more years of experience or bachelors degree with 5 or more years of relevant work experience as well as the following qualities:

  • Medical device development experience
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiar with electromechanical components (motors valves pumps switches etc.)
  • Developing Design controls within a Quality System (ISO 9001 or ISO 13485)
  • Full lifecycle product development experience
  • Familiar with industry design standards
  • Experience with military and/or aerospace applications
  • Familiar with standardized testing (g. IEC test standards MILSTD810)
  • Design for environmental ruggedization (high and low temperatures shock vibration EMI/EMC ingress protection)
  • Experience in designing for both large and smallvolume manufacturing
  • Experience in designing durable equipment as well as disposable accessories and supplies
  • Experience leading Design Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (DFMEA)
  • Wellversed in Creo for CAD design development
