Who You Are: The Auto Service Technology Instructor at Tri County Tech plays a crucial role in guiding students toward successful careers in the automotive field. This position combines student enrichment with realworld experiences focusing on key areas such as engine repair and performance electrical systems steering and suspension air conditioning and brakes. By leading students through the ASE curriculum which meets national accreditation standards the instructor provides handson training in a stateoftheart mechanics shop working on live projects for actual clients. This approach ensures students are wellprepared for the challenges of the automotive industry and ready to pursue their professional goals.


What Youll Possess

As a qualified candidate:

  • Youll possess an Associates Degree or be willing to obtain.
  • Youll possess an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate or be willing to obtain.
  • Youll possess ASE credentials in Automotive Service.
  • Youll possess a minimum of three years of related work experience.
  • Youll have a background in automotive service and repair.
  • Youll be familiar with pedagogy and the training and development of others.
  • You are detailoriented and organized.
  • Youll strive to exceed expectations and have excellent communication skills.
  • Youll take the initiative seek out projects and openly accept other duties as assigned.
  • You continually look for ways to improve your skill set and are always open to receiving feedback

    What Youll Do

    Instructors plan and deliver highlevel rigorous instruction to students in a trade area. They are technical experts in a given field/ area of specialty with the ability to teach leadership and employability skills. They understand the concept of andragogy and pedagogy and the learners motivation while displaying patience and enthusiasm to help their students meet their goals. Instructors are lifelong learners who can adapt easily to meet the needs of their students. They manage multiple projects with selfdirected deadlinedriven accountability. They are highfunctioning professionals applying the use of discretion and independent judgment while maintaining ultimate accountability.


    Essential Functions:

    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the districts curriculum goals as well as the individual needs of each student.
    • Coordinate and evaluate on the job training as applicable for students.
    • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize the available time for instruction.
    • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Evaluate students academic and social growth keep appropriate records and prepare reports relating to students progress.
    • Communicate with parents if applicable through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
    • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health attitude and learning problems.
    • Select requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
    • Develop and encourage a viable student organization for his/her area.
    • Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities and equipment.
    • Establish and/or maintain an active advisory committee as per ODCTE requirements.
    • Work with the industry to ensure students are able to find and maintain employment.
    • Other JobRelated Duties as Assigned by the Supervisor: The omission of duties does not exclude it from the position if similar related or a logical assignment to the job. In other words youll be helping out on spontaneous projects and opportunities not listed above.

      Terms of Employment: Ten months; salary to be established by the Board of Education.

      Evaluation: Performance evaluated by the Instructional Director per Board policy.
