Job Description

APEX was established in 2011 to assist U.S. secondary educational institutions with the recruitment and hosting of international students. Our goal is to promote greater diversity in U.S. high schools facilitate cultural awareness amongst American and international students and ease the process of living and learning abroad.

Through the years APEX has created a portfolio of private day schools located exclusively in Connecticut Maryland Massachusetts Vermont New Jersey New York Pennsylvania California Rhode Island a private dormitory in Connecticut and host families that oversee the wellbeing care safety and education of international students annually. Our program ensures that students will succeed not only academically but also socially while integrating into the American culture and education system.



Apex International Education Partners LLC (APEX) is seeking a professional and reliable full time International (Mandarin) Residential Life & Student Coordinator for our international middleschool and high school student dormitory located in Derby Connecticut and living with host families throughout Connecticut.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Residential Life and dotted line to the Director of Programs this International (Mandarin) Residential Life & Student Coordinator will be responsible for handling student affairs dormitory/office administrative responsibilities and ensuring the overall safety wellbeing and academic success of our international students living in the dormitory and with host families.


These responsibilities include but not limited to:


Plan organize and execute seamlessly new arrivals & departures of students to/from the dormitory and host

Ensure dormitory room is ready for new student occupancy. Ensure smooth transition for students to/from dormitory and host

Meet and greet new students. Provide welcome packets and tours of dormitory for new students.

Coordinate new student physical appointments and ensure proper vaccines are received. Handle and/or submit appropriate

Assist students in obtaining required school uniform/dress code textbooks supplies

Assist students in setting up a bank account and/or applying for an ATM

Help coordinate and host New Student Welcome & Orientation

Coordinate student departures and transportation needs. Ensure students are fully packed rooms are cleaned and all dormitory property is

Work closely with transportation team to ensure students timely arrival and pick up from school/events/activities each

Work collaboratively with students school administrators teachers and host family to address any student academic or behavioral concerns or issues. Meet with school administration teachers and host families when needed. Keep ongoing communications with Chinese counterparts to keep parents uptodate. Prepare and file Student Monthly Reports in Chinese summarizing students academic

Travel to schools and participate and/or attend student school

Monitor and follow up with students who are absent from school. Schedule and bring students to doctors appointments if needed. Provide translations when needed. Be available to assist in emergency situations when

Work with students and their schools administration in planning participating and meeting Community Service Hour

Work collaboratively with the afternoon/evening Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) to seamlessly transfer RLC responsibilities and followup from daytime tonighttime.

Work with afternoon/evening Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) to fully provide the mentoring support and guidance resident students need to achieve academic success and cultural assimilation.

Assist RLC counterpart and LiveIn RAs in responding to and monitoring student behavior that complies with dormitory policies. Address and resolve any student

Participate in required medical safety and other trainings/drills.

Coordinate and manage student school calendars student healthcare visits student birthdays etc. for both dormitory and host family

Regularly capture photos of students and share updates with the China team via WeChat ensuring parents and agency partners stay consistently informed about students well being. The candidate should also be comfortable appearing in photos alongside students to foster a sense of connection and work on assigned projects as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree required. Advanced degree (or in the process of getting an Advanced Degree) in Education or related discipline preferred.

Fluency in English and Mandarin are required.


Experience in education caring for high school aged children and/or prior experience as a senior Resident Advisor in a dormitory setting is desirable.


Demonstrate excellent decisionmaking skills strong leadership qualities and possess sensitivity for the welfare of their international middle school and high school student residents.


Must be salesminded proactively working with leadership and China team to enhance student retention and attract new students to the dormitory and APEX program.


Must be detailedoriented and possess excellent time management and project management skills. Be organized efficient and capable of taking on the administrative responsibilities of the role. Must be highly proficient with MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and update data/reports accurately and timely.


Excellent communication and problemsolving skills are needed. Must be able to effectively communicate and problemsolve with students staff and school administration to successfully

resolve issues. Possess an encouraging spirit and a customerservice focus. Be cooperative with staff and act as a primary advocate and mentor for dormitory students.


Staff must undergo and pass a national criminal and sex offender background and driving

record check. Must have a valid CT Drivers License 3 years driving experience and clean driving record. Must have own reliable transportation to/from office. Company vehicle use provided for workrelated activities.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS FullTime Salaried Exempt $50000$55000/year Health Benefits (after 1st of the month after 60 days of service) Company Paid Holidays Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy 401K (after 1 year of service) Free meals during working hours in the dormitory.


JOB TYPE FullTime Salaried Exempt yearround including summers.


SCHEDULE MondayFriday 7:00AM3:30PM some additional hours in the evenings or on the weekends when need.


WORK LOCATION Onsite 101 Marshall Lane Derby CT. Preference given to candidates who live locally or close to the Derby CT office/dormitory. No LiveIn option available. No relocation package offered. Some offsite travel required with Company vehicle.
