Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design installation supervision commissioning and quality control of electrical systems for largescale groundmounted solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The role involves ensuring the project is executed as per technical standards safety norms and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering:
Prepare and review singleline diagrams (SLDs) cable layouts earthing layouts and electrical system design for solar PV plants.
Select and specify electrical components like inverters transformers switchgear protection systems and cables.
Conduct load flow short circuit and protection coordination studies.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes standards (like IEC IS) and utility requirements.
Procurement Support:
Prepare technical specifications for procurement of electrical equipment.
Evaluate vendor offers from a technical standpoint and support vendor selection.
Execution & Supervision:
Supervise installation of electrical equipment like solar modules inverters transformers HT panels and grid interconnection systems.
Ensure electrical works are carried out according to approved drawings specifications and quality standards.
Coordinate with civil and mechanical teams for interdisciplinary activities.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
Implement and monitor quality control procedures for electrical installations.
Ensure adherence to site safety norms during electrical works.
Commissioning & Testing:
Conduct precommissioning checks testing of electrical systems (megger testing Hipot testing relay testing etc.).
Support synchronization of the plant with the grid and monitor initial operational parameters.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
Maintain updated documentation including asbuilt drawings test reports and commissioning reports.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems related to solar PV plants (up to 33kV/66kV/132kV if applicable).
Familiarity with SCADA communication systems and remote monitoring setups.
Good project management communication and coordination skills.
Ability to handle contractors vendors and thirdparty inspectors.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./) mandatory.
Additional certifications in Solar PV Systems are a plus.
Experience:
24 years of experience in electrical engineering roles in solar ground mount or utilityscale solar projects.
