About the Role

Ruah is proud to be developing the Karlup Service a holistic wraparound recoverybased model aimed at supporting women and children to heal from family and domestic violence. The Karlup Service will provide a range of offerings from the Angela Wright Bennett Centre (AWBC) a stateoftheart purposebuilt facility in Perths CBD.

Employment Education and Training Support (EETS) will be offered as part of the Karlup Service with the goal of supporting women who have experienced FDV to achieve independence and establish a life for themselves and their children that is free from violence. Through the EETS service we aim to assist women affected by FDV to explore potential employment training and education options and connect them with suitable programs and services.

Reporting to and supported by the Team Lead the Adult Employment Education Training and Support Coordinator will support clients by connecting them in with available resources and services that can help to facilitate and sustain their engagement with employment education and/or training and advocate for clients in relation to their rights and entitlements.

This is a fulltime permanent position working 38 hours per week.

What were looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum qualification of Certificate IV in Community Services (or equivalent field) and/or a minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role including extensive knowledge of current employment education and training programs and services and how to navigate the systems that support them.
  • Previous experience in working effectively with women who have experienced family and domestic violence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of family and domestic violence and the social and cultural context in which it occurs.
  • Capability to work effectively with a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability and contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Effective interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to model personal wellbeing safe professional boundaries and positive unconditional regard for the people you are supporting.
  • Understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity gender and social inclusion particularly Aboriginal culture.

Diploma or Degree level qualification in social sciences social work family studies psychology or a related discipline are desirable but not essential.
