Job Description
Work for a Central New Jersey heavy civil/site contractor.
Site/Civil Estimator
Responsibilities:
Daily Review of CIS leads and Estimating email account in order to populate and manage our
CRM
Run the weekly GO/NOGO meeting with senior staff
Maintain Job # Tracking Log and Estimating folder on the server
Assist in preparing prequalification packages for new customers
Execute the process of generating an estimate from receipt of documents to submittal of proposal
Gather/Download or otherwise obtain all bid documents and addenda
Read and understand bid documents thoroughly
Full understanding of scope of work
BidPrep and Estimate Setup in Heavy Bid
Perform accurate quantity takeoff using BlueBeam
Prepare and send packages to vendors/subs for pricing
Communicate with vendors to ensure applestoapples quotes
Application of labor/equipment to bid items to produce an estimate
Review of estimates with Sr Staff
Confirming prices are inline with market standard
Assist the team after a win including creating a buyout summary and participating in purchasing
efforts if needed and when time allows
Solicit a minimum of 3 vendors for each item
Create Comparison Sheets and applestoapples comparison for each purchase
Make recommendations for vendor selection
Create POs in Procore and issue to vendors
Obtain submittal documentation and pass to OPERATIONS
Work closely with Operations to ensure a smooth transition to the field for any material
ordered.
Be aware of our company field productions by task/code
Assist in the setup and maintenance of Heavy Job and costcode reviews
Assist in the creation of task templates and library estimates for estimating with historical
productions.
Assist the field in understanding the bid and be a resource for them to help ensure productivity.
Daily followup on submitted bids
Aggressively but professionally push to land the job
Get feedback on our pricing and competition
Log followup efforts in our CRM for reporting
Produce an annual stat sheet showing hitrate (bid vs win)
Requirements:
Must have a site/civil estimating background with a union contractor
Should have at least 3 years of estimating experience
Familiar with HCSS HeavyBid software.
