Job Description

Job Title: Shelter Manager BFLSA Status: ExemptDepartment: Client Services ProgramReports to: Shelter DirectorEffective Date: 3/30/2025Pay Rate: $year
$24.04 $25.00 hour
Position Overview:
Shelter Manager B position oversees the shelters daily operations special projects/activities service delivery and documentation program staff and volunteers for the shelter facility.

HOURS Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturday (9 AM7 PM) 40 hours weekly minimum or as necessary to achieve program objectives tasks activities and responsibilities and to effectively document outcome measures and variations. Have the flexibility to work business and untraditional hours to meet the programs needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision and support to the shelter operations team 5 fulltime Resident Advocates and Cook to ensure continuity of care for residential clients and 24hour coverage for the facility.
Resident Advocate/Shelter:
  • Oversee the safety security and general welfare of adults and children utilizing the shelter facility.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of the shelter facility to ensure clients staff and volunteers follow all inspections fire codes and health codes.
  • Oversee sorting and utilization of inkind contributions supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee service documentation in client files and monitor outcomes for retraining and/or accommodation to client service delivery.
  • Oversee the implementation of client orientation into the shelter program.
  • Provide crisis intervention assistance to residents and prospective residents.
  • Conduct weekly walkthroughs of the shelter facility and report urgent maintenance and repair needs to the Shelter Director.
  • Adhere to and assist with managing the shelter services programs annual budget.
Cook/Food Services:
  • Oversight of menu planning and food ordering to ensure three meals and three snacks are provided daily.
  • Adhere to and assist with managing the food services program annual budget.
Other:
Supervision:
  • Resident Advocate Day A & B; Resident Advocate Evening C; Resident Advocate Night A & C; Cook; Volunteers
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior administrative/program experience
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in management
Education and Other Requirements:
  • Minimum of a 4year degree in Social Work Sociology Psychology Human Resources or comparable experience.
  • Must pass a criminal background check motor vehicle report and reference checks.
  • Must have a clean driving record/ have automobile insurance coverage be insurable and have at least three years of verifiable driving experience.
  • Provide and maintain proof of personal automobile insurance.
  • Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance.
