Primary Objective of the Position:

The successful applicant will assist with maintenance of Cargojets Ground Service Equipment at the highest level of reliability and ensure duties are performed in accordance with Cargojets Policy and Procedures.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Assist with the maintenance of Ground Service Equipment as established with Cargojets Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensure that all GSE Equipment is maintained and serviced in a timely manner.
  • Assist with equipment repairs through the Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Assist with preparing parts lists and order parts as needed.
  • Complete work orders for all equipment repairs including parts and time used.
  • Be knowledgeable with GSE manuals/documents pertaining to the work
  • Maintain a clean efficient and safe work area.
  • Be knowledgeable with all company and government manuals and documents pertaining to their work.
  • Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Key Objectives:

  • Employees are required to achieve a Diploma in 310S/310T Automotive Service Technician License from an accredited school issued by the (Provincial) Ministry.
  • This is mechanical work at the skilled level involving the repair rebuilding overhaul maintenance and servicing of Ground Equipment operated by Cargojet.
  • Assignments are made to employees by means of oral or assigned through the GSE program.
  • Repair and maintenance and inspection of the condition of equipment the making of repairs replacements and adjustments and the inspection of essential components such as electrical or hydraulic systems brakes and controls.
  • Gain the required knowledge and experience to eventually become a Licensed Automotive Mechanic.
  • Is responsible for shop equipment airside equipment and vehicles and maintenance support equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service inspect troubleshoot and repair Cargojets fleet of GSE Equipment.
  • Ensure that all GSE equipment are maintained and serviced in a timely manner.
  • Carries out assignments of daily GSE maintenance and overhaul programs.
  • Checks condition of Equipment makes repairs replacements and adjustments in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • Report Safety issues through the SMS system and to Supervisor.

Key Competency Requirements:

  • Required to lift weight 50 lbs (fifty pounds) for component replacements.
  • Ability to operate high lifts forklifts to gain access to aircraft.
  • Ability to work from heights and on ladders.

Knowledge Abilities & Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of GSE maintenance procedures and inspection systems
  • Knowledge of GSE materials and parts.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and fire prevention.
  • Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Ability to pass written exams required by the provincial Ministry.

Education Training & Experience:

  • High School Diploma.

Location & Work Environment:

  • Required to work in a hangar or outdoors.
  • Required to work in Restricted areas at Airports
  • Shift work rotating shifts (seven) 7 days a week.

Physical Standards:

  • Physically capable of performing the duties assigned with no accommodations or restrictions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PostSecondary
  • Valid Provincial Drivers License
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
  • Ability to use computers MS Word & Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and problemsolving abilities.
  • Detailoriented able to multitask and work well under pressure.
