The Department of Commerce Community and Economic Development Division of Community & Regional Affairs is recruiting for two Long Term NonPermanent Grants Administrator 2 positionslocated in Anchorage!

What you will be doing:
Our mission at Division of Community and Regional Affairs (DCRA) is to focus on consistent community communication and collaboration. This position will make important and lasting contributions to communities in Alaska by supporting and implementing grant programs with nonprofits private agencies and government entities throughout the State of Alaska. This position will interpret explain and apply grant related laws regulations or policies to grantees to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements as well as guidance to recipients on allowable costs proper reimbursement documentation and progress reporting. This is position will be filled at the Grants Administrator 1 or 2 level depending on experience.

Who we are looking for:
Our idealcandidatewill have the following knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Experience working with federal or state grants including grant writing interpreting and monitoring. The incumbent will work with grantees to fulfill the terms on the grant and ensure compliance with federal regulations or state statutes.

  • Experience auditing grants or financial information and determining allowable costs.

  • Communication: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively taking into account the audience and nature of the information makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others attends to nonverbal cues and responds appropriately.

  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar punctuation and spelling; communicates information (for example facts ideas or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.

  • Experience interpreting statutes regulations or policies and procedures related to various types of grants including state or federal. Attention to accuracy and detail is very important for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Grants Administrator 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Accounting: Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual obligations and costs methods.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing evaluating and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws regulations and guidance.
  • Grants Management: Knowledge of requirements practices and procedures for soliciting receiving reviewing and processing proposals and awarding and administering grants and agreements.
  • Reasoning: Identifies rules principles or relationships that explain facts data or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive onthejob experience to perform ones job; works with understands and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory postsecondary education and/or experience in accounting grants administration budget administration procurement professional services contracts and/or providing administrative support to a business or organization.

Special Note:

Competencies means a combination of interrelated knowledge skills abilities and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

Typically gained by means the prevalent usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.
