Job Description
Master Cutter in the garment industry is responsible for accurately measuring and cutting fabric for clothing production. They create patterns mark fabric and supervise the entire cutting process ensuring quality and efficiency. This role also includes supervising stitching and fitting garments making alterations and ensuring proper fabric utilization.
Key Responsibilities of a Cutting Master:
Taking measurements: Accurately measuring customers or using predefined patterns to determine garment dimensions.
Pattern Making: Creating paper patterns based on measurements and designs.
Fabric Preparation: Marking fabric with patterns and ensuring proper fabric utilization to minimize waste.
Cutting: Using various tools (e.g. scissors knives machines) to cut fabric according to patterns.
Supervision: Overseeing the entire cutting process including the work of other cutters.
Quality Control: Checking for accuracy quality and efficiency in the cutting process.
Alterations: Making necessary alterations to finished garments for a better fit.
Technical Expertise: Possessing knowledge of different garment types fabrics and cutting techniques.
Communication: Communicating with customers designers and other team members.
