As a developer advocate you will be playing an essential part in increasing the awareness and adoption of SailPoint technologies with our customers and partners as well as ensuring that our developer community is successful throughout their journey. As part of the team you will have a high degree of autonomy and support to pursue the initiatives you see fit for your product(s) or areas of ownership. You will be on a team of other Developer advocates and software engineers. This role will report directly to the Head of Developer Relations and falls under the Product & Engineering organization.
Developer Advocates at SailPoint are responsible for advocating both for and to our developers to ensure that SailPoint is building the most ideal experience for integrating with our products. You will act as a bidirectional line of communication between developers and SailPoint while building additional developer experience on top of the product along the way. Some examples of this (though not an exhaustive list) include:
Engage regularly with product management and engineering to ensure productreadiness for developers acting as a stakeholder for external developers.
Write indepth documentation quick start guides and indepth guides and tutorials on developing using your product or features
Contribute where necessary to existing developer tools that pertain to your product or feature
Support developers in our community forum who are using your product(s) or feature(s) understanding their perspectives workflows and use cases.
Build example applications that inspire developers where to get started utilizing our tools and documentation
Write blog posts on an asneeded basis that help our developer community to solve timely problems that longterm documentation or guides wouldnt cover
Create videos education components also on an asneeded basis
Participate in live streams throughout the year and our annual developer conference
Participate in inperson events where our developer audience may be present such as Navigate and Developer Days.
You will be the owner of the developer experience for one or more impactful products or features that solves a welldefined problem in the identity security space. You have the freedom to lead your project and technical design for your developer experience guiding and enabling the best decisions to be made by our team and recommendations made to our PMs and Engineering teams. You will be supported by the lead Developer Advocate as well as your DevRel team in your endeavorsyou are never alone in your work. You should be unfazed by ambiguity having the ability to discern what is and is not working and work towards a recommended solution.
Our team has a shared responsibility in defining building managing and growing the SailPoint Developer Experience.
This is a publicfacing role. You must possess strong written verbal and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally and across diverse geographies leveraging remote teaming technologies.
Experience working or participating in developer communities
Strong familiarity and knowledge of REST APIs and webhooks
Experience speaking at inperson and/or virtual events
Experience writing technical documentation
Practical knowledge of working in identity security preferably with SailPoint products
3 years of programming experience is preferred preferably in JavaScript Python Go and PowerShell. Less years are encouraged to apply if you feel confident in other requirements
Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a rolespecific commission along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge skills experience market conditions and locations as well as reflect SailPoints differing products industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary for USbased employees will be in this range from (minmidmax USD):
$109200 $156000 $202800Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employees home location.
