MISSION:

Academies of RCMA is a nonprofit network of K8 Spanish/English dual language charter schools built to expand educational opportunities for lowincome and migrant families living in Floridas rural communities. PURPOSE OF POSITION: An Academies of RCMA PrincipalinResidence creates a pathway toward academy leadership through a residency program that supports a pipeline for successful leadership by building the necessary competencies for a uniquely qualified aspiring leader. The person in the position provides mentorship coaching and onthejob opportunities to exercise skills needed to lead as a founding or successor principal. The candidate works under the guidance of mentor academy leaders and reports to the Principals Manager.

The PrincipalinResidence will work closely with the teachers staff parents and community to fulfill the academys mission and vision and ensure operations meet the highest standards of excellence quality and safety. Specific duties include but are not limited to hiring supervising and developing the educational team and other staff; developing and assessing strategic plan long and shortterm goals; developing and implementing the programs curriculum; developing and managing the budget; assisting with grant writing and other development activities; and ensuring compliance with all federal state and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Inspires manages models mentors and develops a diverse team of highly effective teachers paraprofessionals and other staff.
  • Sets the highest standards of excellence for students faculty and staff and works strategically towards achieving RCMAs vision and measurable goals.
  • Builds a dedicated professional and collegial community of bilingual educators who effectively work together to improve student dual language achievement and nurture socialemotional development.
  • Leads a culture of hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence through collaboration shared leadership and decisionmaking.
  • Engages in reflective supervision coaching and mentoring.
  • Closely monitors all classrooms and related programs.

OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

  • Manages functions and systems to ensure all work cohesively to deliver program excellence.
  • Uses data to drive continuous improvement in student learning staff capacity building and operations.
  • Develops individual teacher goals and professional development plans to help build best practices for all staff members to achieve stated goals.
  • Ensures the highest level of accountability and compliance with all district state and federal policies and laws as well as academy stakeholders.
  • Develops and manages support services for students including Extended Day.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Actively engages families in meaningful and successful academy partnerships working closely with the School Advisory Committee.
  • Works with teachers to ensure ongoing communication with parents and build cohesive home/academy connections.
  • Develops and nurtures partnerships with community organizations district/federal agencies funders School Advisory Committee and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Communicates in a manner that demonstrates and fosters cooperation respect and the ability to learn from others
  • Engages in advocacy for our students families and community

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the RCMAs policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A visionary innovative bilingual and bicultural instructional leader with experience in mobilizing schoolbased teams to excellence in all areas of school operations.
  • Administrative skills and 5 to 7 years of teaching and school leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of pedagogy instructional best practices and coaching/mentoring.
  • Reflective practitioner who inspires and motivates all to work relentlessly in pursuit of students growth and other strategic goals.
  • Experience in data analysis and datadriven decisionmaking.
  • Strategic thinker and easy updating to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers parents and the organizations support functions.
  • Excellent bilingual Spanish/English oral and written communication skills.
  • A masters degree in School Leadership or related fields is preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with economically disadvantaged families in a community setting.
  • Experience in working with community agencies school systems families and youth.
  • Experience with multicultural and diverse populations and settings.
  • Experience with training and or supervising nondegreed professionals.
  • Knowledge of state educational standards and state assessment system.
  • Be familiar with and understand RCMA and the Academies of RCMAs philosophy.
