AECOM is seeking a shift supervisor to oversee the daily activities and responsibilities of assigned shift personnel and shift duties within a 24/7/365 traffic management center control room. This position is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with standard operating procedures quality control and personnel management. Applicants will need to be professional dependable and selfmotivated. The qualified applicant will need to clearly demonstrate their knowledge of Wisconsins Interstate and arterial road network and a proficiency with computer and communication systems. Applicants will also need to confirm their willingness and ability to fill this essential position and work in a 24/7/365 operating environment which includes weekend night and holiday shifts.
Job Summary
The Control Room Shift Supervisor will work onsite at a Traffic Management Center (TMC) located in Milwaukee WI. The environment is a technological hub for traffic operations which uses a variety of different technologies and tools for the purpose of enhancing safety and mobility.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee all aspects of daily traffic management center control room operations on assigned shift.
- Conduct work product audits to ensure quality procedural compliance and accuracy.
- Oversee shift scheduling and compliance with attendance policies in conjunction with management.
- Coordinate and track all assigned employee initial and recurrent training and development of staff on assigned shift.
- Confirming staff adherence to all policies and procedures (AECOM and client)
- Oversee Flex Lane operations and training on assigned shift stepping in to operate Flex Lane when needed. Position will be expected to become Flex Lane certified and maintain certification.
- Attend meetings trainings conferences etc. at the request of the TMC Operations Manager project manager or client.
- Review applications and resumes for control room operator positions assist in conducting interviews and recommending hires.
- Oversee work zone and special event support ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Provide regular situational awareness to AECOM and client management on planned/unplanned events device and systems outages emergency situations and other timesensitive incidents.
- Assume duties of Control Room Operator or Specialist when needed to fill staffing shortages.
- Managing and logging traffic incidents in an advanced transportation management system software.
- Coordinating and dispatching incident response crews to incidents in a safe timely and efficient manner.
- Detecting confirming and tracking equipment failures affecting control room operations (e.g. central system/network computers CCTV cameras digital message signs)
- Coordinating with local regional and statewide stakeholders on all control room activities by providing essential and timely incident information and status.
- Informing first responders of traffic related incidents and assisting with coordination of lane closures and diversion routes.
- Coordinating incidents (to include infrastructure issues) with appropriate responders for resolution and information dissemination.
- Participate in oncall rotation for afterhours weekend and holiday support.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by AECOM or client management.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- High School/GED 2 or more years prior experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or other related experience.
- Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment that may include working holidays weekends and/or shifts outside of regularly scheduled hours with limited notice.
- Participation in an oncall rotation that includes afterhours and weekend support and may require employee to respond to work to provide staffing or operational support.
- Position requires candidate to pass a client required Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time monitoring multiple systems including CCTV camera displays law enforcement radio broadcasts answering/responding to calls and communicating to other staff or partner agencies.
- Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment
- Demonstrated leadership & time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong accurate data entry skills
- Ability to work calmly and accurately in a team environment under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to work in a Control Room environment.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fastpaced environment requiring high level of multitasking.
- Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally including ability to keep management and other peer supervisors apprised of operational issues.
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple diverse and simultaneous inputs.
- Ability to work alternate work schedules and oncall duties at a 24/7/365 operation center.
- Skilled in the use of Windows based applications preferred Microsoft Edge Word and Excel
- Knowledge of twoway communication systems; radio and telecommunications experience
- Geographic familiarity with regional freeway system and arterial roads
- Knowledge of incident management response techniques
