Position Description
A temporary part time 0.325 Grade 712 Food Studies/Culinary Arts Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1 2025 to June 30 2026. The assignment will be Hudsons Hope Elementary/Jr. Secondary School.
Hudsons Hope School is a close community composed of students ages 0 years to grade twelve. Many of our students enjoy their entire educational experience with the same peer group over their time at HHS. The age range within the school allows for incredible intergenerational teaching and learning experiences for our school is nestled in the Peace River valley within walking distance of the Peace River and a short drive to the School Districts Cameron Lake Outdoor Education Center. Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
Excellent interpersonal communications collaboration and organization skills
Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe caring and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both shortterm and longterm in consideration of class composition
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are proactive and maintain student dignity
Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
Experience with providing programs with the subject areas would be an asset
Experience teaching culinary arts
Ability to use performance standards in the area of social responsibility
Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategiesand techniques
Experience teaching in a multiage group setting
Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plansfor students with academic social emotional learning difficulties
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the school improvement planand with professional development
Working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing Assessment and Performance Based Assessment Balanced Literacy and Blended/structured writing process
Experience working with children with special needs
Experience/training/knowledge of Positive BehaviourSupport (PBS)

Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.
$3035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65397 $111952
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical dental extended health and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
Isolation allowance of $705.43 paid over 10 months
