This position is responsible for collaborating within a team and leading student success initiatives in the region. This role involves delivering comprehensive and proactive academic advising to students enrolled in online/hybrid programs and supporting them from initial interest to graduation. This position will serve as a liaison for GVSU student services in the region and will provide supervision to direct reports within the assigned communities.

Primary Duties:
- Provide comprehensive academic advising aiding students in understanding degree requirements selecting courses and utilizing eadvising tools and campus resources. Guide students in crafting personalized educational pathways for career readiness and actively engage in initiatives promoting student success. Monitor progress closely identifying opportunities to enhance academic strategies and address educational gaps for continual improvement.
- Collaborate on implementing the regional student success roadmap to enhance educational experiences and prepare students for competitive graduate programs and career alignment. This includes offering intentional proactive advising and targeted programmatic student support while also monitoring and identifying potential patterns impacting student experiences.
- Provide support for program expansion and pathway development by facilitating the creation of distinctive learning opportunities through connections with stakeholders in the region. This includes collaborating with community colleges career technical education centers and key employers.
- Supervise mentor and provide comprehensive training to direct reports within the region fostering their professional growth and development while ensuring the delivery of exceptional support services (as applicable).
- Research and develop new support mechanisms aimed at enhancing retention and graduation rates among students particularly those from underrepresented populations such as individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds Native American communities veterans and other marginalized groups.
- Facilitate student access to resources aimed at promoting success in academic and lifelong learning. These resources include the writing center library services financial literacy programs leadership development initiatives career resources and appropriate academic advising centers.
- Support the Admissions Recruiter in establishing connections identifying opportunities for information sessions and presentations and managing communication channels for prospective students through relevant systems and tools (such as SLATE NAVIGATE BANNER and others).
- Develop and implement a structured academic support communication plan tailored to student needs and aligned with the academic calendar. Additionally create intentional retention strategies and outreach communication plans.
- Advocate for students in advising and admissions processes including appeals petitions to return and late withdrawals while also serving on various committees to support the vision of the Center.
- Develop comprehensive onboarding procedures and module orientations specifically tailored for newly admitted students encompassing transfer and registration sessions as well as facilitating connections with faculty.
- Assist in developing marketing initiatives and addressing social media needs based on recruitment and retention strategies.
- Assist in curriculum plans and development of current and new programs in the region.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors degree
- Minimum of at least two (2) years of relevant experience in higher education career advising program planning public administration or human servicesrelated field.
- Supervisory Experience
- Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- An understanding of and preference for collaborative approaches to planning and problemsolving.
- Experience with various computer software applications (Microsoft Office Outlook Teams etc.).
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

- Cooperative team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty/Staff of all levels throughout the university.
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Masters degree
- Experience working in admissions academic advising or career services.
- Demonstrated experience working in an academic setting with adult learners.
- Familiarity with computer student information systems and webbased records and registration programs
- Knowledge of and experience living and/or working in Southeast Michigan.
