Title: Equipment and Facilities Tech Assistant
Job Classification: Hourly NonExempt
Department: Operations (Plus all Building Maintenance)
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor
General purpose of Job: Shared resource to support maintenance of grounds buildings and machinery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Able to perform basic facility maintenance tasks such as changing lightbulbs painting wall/door repair.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of spare parts to ensure continuous operation of equipment.
- Assist other technicians with repairs that require a second person to complete.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Perform cleaning lubrication and replacement of consumable parts.
- Document and manage workorders in a CMMS. (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Must follow the safety and chemical policies/procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of the premises to detect malfunctions and/or needed repairs.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform basic plumbing maintenance and system modifications.
- Install and reconfigure office furniture as needed to suit business needs.
- Perform general maintenance custodial and trash removal tasks.
- Keep sidewalks and parking lot free of snow and ice.
- Keep production and maintenance areas clean at all times.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Performance Measurement: Performance feedback will take place both verbally and written on a daytoday as needed basis recognition in monthly employee recognition meetings formal training on changes in SOP as needed with a formal review by the supervisor at least annually
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read and write basic English
- Up to 2 years working in a commercial / industrial manufacturing environment
- Previous experience with printing and bindery equipment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to quickly learn machine operations
- Basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred
- Must be able to work OT as needed
- Preemployment physical drug screen and background check required
Physical Demands:
Often standing or walking may climb balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Often lift up to 40 lbs & sometimes up to 70 lbs. Use hands to finger handle or feel. Reach with hands and arms. Vision requirements are close vision distance vision peripheral vision & ability to focus.
Work Environment:
Work near moving mechanical parts fumes & air borne particles risk of electrical shock and exposure to toxic chemicals. The noise level is moderate to loud.
