Job Description

A Director of Finance with Hilton Des Moines is responsible for overseeing directing and administering all financial operations of the hotel in the hotels continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Were part of the Des Moines Skywalk system which links us directly to the Iowa Events Center. Our hotel is within a mile of the Historic East Village and Simon Estes Riverfront Amphitheater. We offer a free shuttle service to the airport which is six miles away. Enjoy our indoor pool and al fresco eating area complete with a fireplace.


What will I be doing

As the Director of Finance you would be responsible for overseeing directing and administering all financial operations of the hotel in the hotels continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Direct and administer all financial operations of the hotel to include but not limited to asset protection financial reporting systems management hotelwide budget and forecasting department management and meeting participation and facilitation
  • Ensure compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Serve as financial advisor to hotel management and ownership
  • Monitor and approve all sales purchases salaries and expenses of the hotel
  • Assist and counsel department heads in the interpretation and analysis of financial data recommending courses of action to maximize hotel profitability
  • Prepare annual plan projections and budgets
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include but not limited to providing supervision and professional development scheduling conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Recruit interview and train team members

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Ensure hotel is in compliance with Corporate Policies (SPIs) and governmental rules and regulations.
  • Report irregularities and noncompliant situations to General Manager and VPUS Hotel OperationalFinance as required by corporate guidelines.
  • Assume leadership role in the education of supervisory staff in financial management.Ensure timely completion of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Ensure that the best interest of the hotel HHC and owners are protected. Seek legal advice if deemed necessary from the legal department of HHC.
  • Ensure compliance with financial record retention policies.
  • Administer the competitive bidding process.
  • Cooperate with Internal/External audits. Implement agreed upon recommendation.
  • Ensure timely customer satisfaction (external and internal) on accounting related inquiries and requests.
  • Oversee responsibilities of computer networking operations and computer applications within the hotel.
  • Attend other departmental meetings to keep appraised of other operations and to provide outside input to enhance the departments operation.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the General Manager or Corporate Finance.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent required
4year college degree preferred


EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years experience in Finance field preferred

At least 2 years experience in direct supervision and management preferred

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates
