Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Must be 18 years of age or older; and
  • One (1) or more years of experience in related field such as construction architecture or engineering code interpretation compliance building inspection property management or other related work history deemed applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Municipal code interpretation.
  • Interpretation/application of ordinances.
  • Building inspection.
  • Customer service and conflict resolution skills

Available Schedule:

  • 8 hours daily Monday Friday

**Scheduled salary increases and a potential 2.5% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) are anticipated effective July 1 2025**

The anticipated hiring range for the Ordinance Compliance Specialistposition is $27.59(first step) to $28.97or $30.41(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field. Indoor work is in an office environment with regulated and minimal environmental conditions. For indoor work time is spent sitting at a desk working on a computer The noise level is typically moderate to medium. In the field work may involve exposure to diverse weather conditions traffic and potentially hazardous materials. This may include exposure to loud noise odors fumes dust poor ventilation inadequate lighting and chemicals. This environment includes frequent interaction with the public and potential exposure to disruptive and hostile people.

Work performed involves a wide range of physical activities requiring moderate exertion including climbing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching walking sitting lifting handling objects and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods of time. Adequate hearing visual acuity and strong verbal communication skills are essential. The role requires frequent use of automated office equipment such as computers printers copiers and telephones. Requires the ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle regularly. May require the ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force daily to lift and carry objects. Extended periods of walking and standing are common especially when conducting inspections. Requires the ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle.
