Job Description:

The University of Baltimore School of Law is seeking to hire a Clinical Teaching Fellow for the Innocence Project Clinic (IPC) a joint effort by UBalt Law and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender which teaches student attorneys through the representation of indigent criminal defendants in their effort to challenge wrongful and unjust convictions exonerate the innocent provide resources to support the exonerated and work to prevent wrongful convictions through education and policy reform.

The University of Baltimore School of Law is seekingto hire a Clinical Teaching Fellow for the Innocence Project Clinic (IPC) a joint effort by UBalt Law and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender which teaches student attorneys through the representation of indigent criminal defendants in their effort to challenge wrongful and unjust convictions exonerate the innocent provide resources to support the exonerated and work to prevent wrongful convictions through education and policy reform.

The Fellows duties include guiding and supporting law students as they serve as first chair student attorneys for their clients; coteaching the weekly seminar (during twilight hours) with the Director of the IPC; and covering client matters as needed including during winter and summer breaks in the academic calendar and potentially for matters for other clinics that are within the Fellows expertise.

UBalt Lawsfulltime yearround public interest fellowship program offers superb mentorship and training as the Fellow transitions from law practice to lawteaching providing intensive support in the areas of clinical pedagogy academic writing and more. TheClinical Teaching Fellowsare fulltime faculty and will join a cohort of approximately nine Fellows; many former Fellows have moved into longterm teaching positions at other institutions after completing their Fellowship. The Innocence Project Fellowship will be offered as a twoyear position with the possibility of renewal or extension upon mutual consent.

Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills; a strong academic record and/or other indicia of highperformance ability; and a strong interest in teaching. Three years of experience as a practicing lawyer is required along with one year of practicing criminal law. Experience relating to wrongful convictions preferred.
