Located in Milwaukee Wisconsin the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is the largest bloodfocused research institute in the United States. With over 30 basic translational and clinical investigators the institute is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative therapies related to blood and blood disorders. VBRI is part of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Campus a rapidly growing clinicaltranslational research hub. VBRIs proximity to the Medical College of Wisconsin Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital facilitates seamless interdisciplinary collaborations. A range of exemplary core facilities support highly competitive research. In the summer of 2024 construction of a new research building began doubling existing VBRI research space to enable the recruitment of 1015 new faculty. The Sugden Lab at the Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is seeking a motivated candidate for a fulltime research technologist position in a developmental hematopoiesis and vascular biology research lab. This position will provide technical and logistical support for ongoing studies in the lab that utilize the zebrafish as a model system. The Sugden Lab studies the interplay of mechanical force with genetic instructions in building hematopoietic and vascular tissues through the generation of novel zebrafish lines and liveimaging protocols to record these phenomena. The technologist position will be divided approximately equally between basic research and animal colony management.
Develops improves and implements laboratory techniques and performs complex experiments and/or tests to contribute to the timely and accurate completion of the research project(s).
