Under the direction of the Vice Provost of Learning the Dean of the General Education Academic & Career Pathway oversees the general operations of the General Education Academic & Career Pathway Correctional Education and the Office of Bilingual Education. The Dean is an innovative learning leader who works collaboratively with faculty staff and other administrators in developing and sustaining high quality academic programs to ensure student success.

The Dean encourages and fosters a culture of inquiry about student learning in support of various College strategic initiatives works in collaboration with Districtwide administration 4yr transfer and community partners to align programs and curriculum to 4yr colleges & universities labor market needs and to maximize opportunities for student success. The Dean is also responsible for planning directing and evaluating all assigned functions associated with maintaining and delivering quality academic programs. In addition the Dean will lead all educational activities in county state and federal prisons and jails and the point of contact for all community partnerships related to justice involved individuals.

  • Supervises managerial supervisory and professional personnel. Provides recommendations on hiring new employees; on coaching and counseling; on training; and granting time off.

Qualifications

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Education & Experience:

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Ph.D./ED. D and ten (10) years of relevant experience

Required Licensure/Certification: Must be credentialed in one of the programs in general education and by the Wisconsin Technical College System.

Specialty Skills Needed: Must have knowledge and/or experience working in the general education pathway program. killed in academic teaching leadership management and nonacademic business experience.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Academic & Administrative Knowledge: Knowledge of the functions and objectives of the General Education Academic & Career pathway programs Correctional Education and the Office of Bilingual Education and support programs and services. Strong understanding of academic administration vocational career and technical education. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop program budgets at the federal state or local levels.
  • DecisionMaking/Strategic Thinking Skills: Be aware of how all decisions might impact facilities as well as other stakeholders and the college. Must know how to proceed with issues and help the inquirer assess who should be involved and at what stage. Knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Organizational Knowledge and Networking Skills: Knowledgeable about the college its structure culture policies and practices. Must have excellent networking skills understand and participate in collaboration with others and be able to establish and maintain broad contacts throughout the organization.
  • Empathy to Diversity Issues: Sensitive to dealing with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. Open objective and will seek to understand issues from multiple perspectives. Innovative and creative with new techniques used in instruction.
  • Leadership and Professionalism: Proven supervisory experience and being able to demonstrate the ability to build manage mentor and motivate team members. Ability to form strong relationships with a wide range of internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Composure and Presentation Skills: Maintain a professional demeanor should have strong presentation skills and should be able to organize and communicate information to groups of varying size and hierarchical levels in the organization. Strong written and oral communicator.

Works closely with the Office of the Executive Vice President and VP Learn in the development and implementation of a comprehensive academic and student services policy governance framework and strategy for the College.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway with an anticipated start date of late July or early August 2025.

Hours: This is a 1.0 FTE or 40 hours per work week 100% INPERSON position. Hours are typically Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Flexibility is essential as the role may require occasional evening night and weekend hours as well as travel to other campuses. Office is based out of our Milwaukee Downtown Campus. Employees will conduct all work hours in theState of Wisconsin performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Salary Information: This is a exempt salaried position paid $104866 $141572.Salaries determined based on years of experience internal salary equity and a review of the applicants employment and educational background as listed on the fully completed job application.
