The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one fulltime oneyear term ChildCare Assistant position within our Michif Childrens Place ChildcareCentre located at 525 Main St South in Dauphin MB. The Child CareAssistants primary responsibility is the care and education of children aswell as assisting in delivering Red River Mtisspecific programming andcurriculum. developmental abilities and interests.

Job Duties/Competencies:

  • Maintaina learning environment that is positive relaxed pleasant nurturing andsupports Red River Mtis specific curriculum;
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthylearning environment;
  • Develop opportunities for children to becomestewards of the local environment;
  • Support childrens attempts to resolve theirproblems and differences with others;
  • Encourage children to express their feelingsand assert their rights in socially acceptable ways;
  • Respond to incidents and handle emergenciesappropriately if they occur;
  • Maintain program equipment and assist in lighthousekeeping and cooking duties;
  • Attend monthly staff meetings to discuss the progressand challenges of children and centre and other discussions as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recognized 40hour course;
  • Minimum of one years experience as a ChildCare Assistant or relevant role with demonstrated ability to deliver programsand services;
  • Excellent oral and written communicationskills;
  • Effective listening skills;
  • Dependable reliable and punctual;
  • Valid 1st Aid/CPR Certification;
  • Circle of Security Certificate an asset;
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check Criminal Record Checkand Child Abuse Registry Check;
  • Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture heritageand language an asset; and
  • Ability to travel valid Manitoba Driverslicense with access to a reliable vehicle.
