We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development Family Support Job Training & Employment Support Services Health Housing and Legal Services. We reach more than 73000 individuals and families including almost 13000 serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBAs Healthy Families Program offers voluntary home visiting services to pregnant or newly parenting families living in zip codes11238 Brooklyn communities. The Healthy Families CAMBA home visiting program matches parents with knowledgeable and caring workers who provide information and support during pregnancy and early childhood.

Position: Family Resource/Support Specialist

Reports To: Program Supervisor

Location: 21 Snyder Avenue Brooklyn NY 11226

What The Family Resource/Support Specialist Does:

  • The Family Resource Specialist (FRS) is responsible for completing the validated Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth (FROG) Scale with families to identify family strengths and areas to address at the start of services with parents.
  • The FROG Scale is a familycentered tool used to identify the presence of both protective factors that promote resilience and factors associated with increased risk of child maltreatment or other adverse childhood experiences.
  • The FROG Scale is administered objectively and reliably and in a relationshipbuilding conversational style. Essential functions are specific to the individual position they are based on the actual work performed not the ability of the employee.
  • The Family Support Specialist (FSS) is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and longterm (up to three or five years) contact and support with families. This activity will occur primarily within the familys home; each visit should last for at least one hour. Virtual visits may take place as needed.
  • The interventions should be familycentered strengthbased and directed at establishing a trusting relationship; strengthening the parentchild relationship; promoting healthy childhood growth and development; and enhancing family wellbeing by reducing risk and building protective factors.
  • The person filling this position is expected under close supervision to: (1) provide support to individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance; (2) assess applicants for services and develop service plans and goals with client input; (3) provide referrals to community resources for participants; (4) Create and maintain participant files (5) provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent college coursework preferred

Other Requirements:

  • The FROG Scale is administered objectively and reliably and in a relationshipbuilding conversational style. The FRS must have good communication and writing skills and knowledgeable of community resources to offer referrals to the appropriate communitybased agencies depending on the familys needs.
  • experience in working with or providing services to children and their families
  • an ability to establish trusting relationships and acceptance of individual differences
  • experience and humility to work with the culturally diverse families
  • knowledge of infant and child development
  • open to reflective supervision
  • Bilingual Haitian Kreyol (Highly Preferred)

Compensation: $40000$41600 or annually
When salary ranges are listed the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and includes but is not limited to experience education budget and/or program size internal equity skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Fulltime (35 hours per week) (MondayFriday 9AM5PM)
