Intern can start immediately and work through Summer 2025.
LOCATION: Story City IA
SUMMARY: Work in office and manufacturing environments to plan and implement projects and communications that will prevent injuries and ensure regulatory compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Support and follow all plant safety rules GMPs and other procedural training requirements
- Document & analyze monthly safety metrics
- Perform departmental risk assessments & provide continuous improvement recommendations
- Review and update all JHAs
- Manage Safety Zone Inspection Program
- Involvement with various safety teams
- Assist with quality environmental and food safety systems improvements as part of ISO 9001 ISO 14001 and FSSC 22000
- Involvement in OSHA VPP Program
- Assist with the implementation of ISO 45001
- Assist with the Incident Investigation Process
- Publish/communicate safety information plantwide
- Recommend modifications of existing programs and internal standards to achieve improvements in safety and/or environmental compliance
- Conduct OSHA regulatory research as directed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: An individual must be able to perform the Duties and Responsibilities satisfactorily with guidance from the EHS Manager. Position requires selfmotivation a strong work ethic and ability to take responsibility for work assigned and deadlines. Training or orientation to certain tasks will be provided where an otherwisequalified candidate has no prior knowledge or experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of college education including two or more semesters with EHS coursework.
SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations training documents and written plans and procedures. Ability to write routine work reports and correspondence. Ability to work in PowerPoint Excel and Word. Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment will include office and manufacturing areas. This internship will include projects that involve working in close proximity to production machinery.
