The AccountantI performs entrylevel professional accounting work involving the review ofsource documents used for accounting the maintenance of ledgers registers orother records of initial entry the maintenance of control accounts and thepreparation of periodic and special financial reports. Responsibilities includeobtaining financial data and information processing financial documents andrelated information evaluating financial data and information preparingfinancial documentation and providing consultation and expert advice tomanagement employees or other groups. These responsibilities are performedeither in the central accounting office or in departmental offices havingseparate accounting assignments. An accountant performs technical work in themaintenance of fiscal records applying professional accounting principles andmethods.
A bachelorsdegree in accounting and one year of accounting or auditing experience in thepublic or private sector.

This position is open only to the City of Montgomery employees who have completed their probationary period and meet the minimum qualifications.
