Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this position exists is to receive emergency andnonemergency telephone calls from the public to the Montgomery EmergencyCommunications Center (ECC) using a highly specialized computer telephonysystem and software application and enter data received into a computerizeddispatch system to assist dispatcher(s) with emergency response. The essential functions include processingemergencies; initiating and performing Emergency Medical Dispatch; query enterand receive critical law enforcement information using local state andnational level database systems and performing departmentadministrative/clerical duties. ECOIsreport directly to a Public Safety Communications Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicantsmust have a high school diploma or GED.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Applicant must pass the CritiCall exam including thekeystrokes per hour requirement. As a condition of continued employmentyou must pass a background check and drug test. Must be willing to respond tothe Emergency Communications Center when requested for manmade and naturaldisasters that could include working irregular hours weekends holidays andevenings. Employee must obtain and maintaincertification for APCO Emergency Medical Dispatcher and be 18 years old.

Kind of Examination

Based on the number of vacancies if there are enough qualified applications received a selection procedure will beadministered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken.
